In 1996, Roger McCarthy, Vice President and General Manager of Tremblant, have wanted to create a foundation at Tremblant. He found it unacceptable that in the Mont Tremblant region children would come to school without breakfast or lunch or that students would be unable to participate in the sports which are practised here or that others could not develop their intellectual, cultural or artistic talents, just because their parents did not have enough money.
In September 1996, Roger asked Thérèse Barrette to take responsibility for coordinating the activities of the Foundation. With the help of other community leaders, they began to recruit the Board of Directors.
On November 29, Roger saw his dream begin to take shape, when the Board held its first meeting and made a formal request to the government for a Charter as a charitable foundation. The Tremblant Foundation was born.
