IRONMAN North American Championship Mont-Tremblant

On August 18, 2013, Tremblant will be the center of attention, as it will host one of the most important sporting events ever brought to the province of Quebec, the IRONMAN North American Championship Mont-Tremblant. Come cheer on the athletes and watch history in the making for all Quebecers taking part in this second Quebec edition!

A total of 2 500 athletes, including the event’s co Pierre Lavoie, will start their journey at Tremblant’s Beach and Tennis Club in the early morning of August 18. After swimming 3.8 km in Lake Tremblant, they will cycle for 180 km and then run 42.2 km to finally cross the finish line in Tremblant’s pedestrian village.

Spectators will have the opportunity to see the athletes in action along the course. Note that, since vehicles are not allowed on the course, free public transit can bring you from one strategic point to the next throughout the event.

A couple of sites have also been equipped with bleachers for spectators who will have the opportunity to cheer on athletes coming out of the water at Parc Plage and see them cross the finish line at Place des Voyageurs.

Swim course (3.8 km)

The swim course is held in the pristine waters of Tremblant Lake. It starts from Beach and Tennis Club and ends at the Parc Plage.

Bike course (180 km)

The bike course takes you on Chemin Duplessis towards Lac Supérieur. Enjoy a bike course completely close to all traffic and feel the newly paved surface for Ironman assuring you the best experience possible alongside the magnificent Diable River.

Run course (42.2 km)

You will leave the resort towards le Chemin du Village and the picturesque Mont-Tremblant Old Village. You are again on the official Ironman run course and don’t forget the Ironman Tremblant Resort Village finish line experience!

Free transportation by municipal buses

We strongly suggest that you use the municipal transportation system to make your transportation easier. This year the number of shuttle buses has been considerably increased, and an IRONMAN representative will be on board of each shuttle bus to answer questions.

Shuttle Service Hours: Shuttle service will be offered without interruption from 5 a.m. on August 18 until the next day in the morning, at which time the municipal transit system service will resume.

The Bus Terminal at Station Mont Tremblant is located on the corner of Chemin Curé-Deslauriers and Chemin Duplessis.

Parking

Before 6 a.m

You can park at Club Intrawest, 200, chemin des Saisons, Mont-Tremblant, QC, J8E 1G1. For more info, please contact 1-88-TREMBLANT.

After 6 a.m

We recommend that you park at Wheeler Airport (formerly known as Gray Rock Airport, facing La Belle golf course); no other parking lot will be available on the mountain.

The VIP and P1 parking will not be available from August 6. Moreover, you will not be able to use P2, P3 and P6 parking lots the day of the event, even if you drive to Station Mont Tremblant.

Street closures

From all directions, take Montée Kavanagh up to Rang 8, then take Labelle Street (327 North), turn right to reach Montée Ryan and then the Chemin des Quatre-Sommets (follow traffic policemen directions).

Road closures from 6 a.m. to 12 a.m

  • Chemin de la Chapelle

Road closures from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m

  • Montée Ryan (between HWY 117 and Labelle Street, both directions)
  • Chemin Duplessis (from Quatre-Sommets up to Charles-Duncan Street) ; access to Versant Soleil will be totally closed.

If you are staying with us at Station Mont Tremblant

Between 6 a.m. and 12 noon

There is no way you can leave the Station during that time (except for emergency vehicles).

From 12 noon on

You will be allowed to leave via the Chemin de la Chapelle; you will then reach Vieux Village de Mont-Tremblant (one way only), and then HWY 117 at La Conception, via the Chemin du lac Mercier.

Golf Le Géant closure

Please note that Le Géant golf course will be closed on August 18. To reach Le Diable golf course, since montée Ryan will be closed, you must take Labelle Street toward Le Grand Lodge, then use the back entrance just behind the Visitor Information Center located at the corner of montée Ryan and Labelle Street.

Access to activities

All activities offered on site will be available, except for bike rental service, which will not be offered on August 18.

As for the Beach and Tennis Club, swimming area will be open for visitors at around 10 a.m., and all services at Centre nautique Pierre Plouffe will be offered at opening time. Tennis courts will be open all day long on August 18.
