The Fête de la Musique with Angèle Dubeau as artistic director, the return of a grandiose event!
"It was with great pride that the organizers of Fête de la Musique received the "Grand prix du tourisme des Laurentides 2009" last May.
On that high note, we invite you to join us for an entire weekend and share the musical passion of more than 250 of our very own homegrown musicians. We have organized 75 free concerts and musical activities for your enjoyment.
I would like to welcome Mæstro Kent Nagano on his first visit to Tremblant, where he and the Orchestre symphonique de Montréal will be opening the festivities.
In the stunning natural setting of Tremblant and the warm ambience of the village, this musical journey will appeal to all tastes and styles: from classical to jazz and the music of the world over, many genres and many magical, memorable moments lie ahead.
Let the music begin!"
Angèle Dubeau, C.M., C.Q.
Artistic Director

Classics from the Russian and French repertory; maestro Kent Nagano conducts the Orchestre Symphonique de Montréal in works made famous by Diaghilev's Ballets Russes: Firebird by Stravinsky and the Bolero by Ravel.

Brazilian Paul Ramos, who hails from Sao Paulo, is a singer-songwriter, guitarist, and percussionist who has travelled the world but chosen Montréal as his adoptive city. Ramos will play a joyful, lively concert of classic tunes from the Brazilian repertory as well as some excerpts from his latest record, “Bossamba”.

To mark Chopin's 200th anniversary, the young Canadian virtuoso Jan Lisiecki will play a concert devoted entirely to that master. Lisiecki has already distinguished himself on world stages in Scotland, England, Poland, Japan, the United States, China and Canada. His own compositions have received awards, at the Canada Music Week Writing Competition National Finals and the CBC Mozart Variations Competition.

Lorraine Klaasen, the South Africa-born Montréal singer, has become an icon of African music here in Canada and is at home on the world's great stages. Winner of the MMM-2009 prize, this multi-talented and multilingual artist performs with her musicians in French, English, Swahili, Lu, Xhosa, Lingala, Greek, Hebrew and in more than one dozen African dialects. Klaasen performs at our festival this year with six musicians, with a program filled with new offerings.

Faithful to the interwoven rhythms of ancestral and contemporary Chadian rhythms, H'SAO charms with its gentle a capella stylings. Dance routines make for delightful interludes while the vocal harmonies blend in works of soul, pop, and R&B, steeped in melancholy, nobility, freedom and the desire to denounce the goings-on in their native Chad.

Radio-Canada's music radio network Espace musique presents the 2010-11 crop of Révélations Radio-Canada Musique in a concert hosted by Rebecca Makonnen. Sharing the stage will be Alex
Nevsky, Radio Radio, Rafael Zaldivar, Jan Lisiecki, Bambara Trans, and the Roberto López Project. Broadcast live on Espace musique and on demand at Radio-Canada.ca/musique.
Recording Production: Claude Duhamel
Sound Engineering: Guy Charbonneau
Espace Musique Management: Christiane LeBlanc

The violin, instrument of the people... music that tells a story: in its raw, spontaneous state, it appeals to the instincts. Wielding Angèle Dubeau's violin: Lewis Furey, La Pietà and Marin Nasturica.

Canadian percussionist, specialize in marimba, Anne-Julie Caron makes her career as a soloist and chamber music artist. Winner of numerous prizes – in 2007, the Prix Opus for New Artist of the Year; 2nd prize at the International Marimba Competition in Linz, Austria (2006); and two of the most prestigious Canadian competitions, the 2005 OSM Standard Life and the 2004.

Denis Chang, guitarist, and his quartet will mark the 100th anniversary of the birth of Django Reinhardt with a concert featuring some of the works that earned the composer his fame. More than 50 years after his disparition, Reinhardt is still an inspiration for generations of musicians in such diverse genres as jazz, folk, worldbeat and modern pop-rock.
Make it an escapade, stay at Tremblant!!
