TELUS Spin wraps up with a Piknic Electronik in the snow after 10 days of spring skiing, adrenaline and partying!

Mont-Tremblant, April 12, 2007 - TELUS Spin, presented in collaboration with Coors Light, ended Sunday, April 8th, in a whirlwind of snowflakes, but the unexpected weather didn't prevent the events and concerts from being held throughout the weekend—on the contrary! During the long Easter weekend, crowds of skiers and boarders flocked to Tremblant to take advantage of 50 cm of freshly fallen powder and to take in the many concerts and competitions scheduled.

As expected, the trails were buzzing with all the participants in the Skiercross, presented by Atomic, and in Sunday's Boardercross Powerade, as they raced down the trail four at a time. As for the music, the shows followed one after the other on the Volkswagen stage at Place St-Bernard, creating a thunderous atmosphere in the pedestrian village. After performances by the Stills and Xavier Caféine last weekend, it was André's and The Dears' turn to play on stage this weekend. The Piknic Electronik wrapped it all up Sunday afternoon as the crowd moved to the beat of its electronic rhythms till early evening.

Popular competitions
Throughout the event, various sports competitions attracted high-calibre participants and lots of spectators. In all, more than 300 athletes took part in six events, and roughly 50,000 spectators came to Tremblant for ten days of adrenaline and concerts. After the first weekend, which started off strong with McDonald's spectacular Trailer Jam as well as the Spin Junior on Sunday, the week went on with the Urban Jib powered by Volkswagen on rue des Remparts Wednesday evening, No Man's Land—for girls only—on Friday, the Skiercross on Saturday, and finally, the Boardercross Powerade on Sunday.

A true success for the 5th edition
Back for the fifth time, TELUS Spin—the most popular spring event in Eastern North America—was once again a great success, thanks notably to the diversity of the competitions; the originality of the modules, like McDonald's 50-foot (!) Trailer Jam; the musical program, which included artists from the Montreal scene; and, of course, the unique spring ambience, which put everyone in a festive mood; as well as the unforgettable parties. There's no denying that the weather always plays a crucial role in such an event, and the organizers took full advantage of the first sunny weekend, which was ideal, before the snow came in, providing some extraordinary skiing during the second weekend.

Skiing and events till April 15
At Tremblant, spring keeps on going until April 15, which is when the ski hill closes till next winter. Thanks to abundant snowfalls over the past few days, the conditions are magnificent, and two events still await snow lovers from now until Sunday. On Sunday, April 14, the Caribou "Splash" Cup invites skiers and boarders to disguise themselves to cross a 70-foot long pool of water before completing the final stretch along the P'tit Caribou. Finally, on Sunday, come treat your sweet tooth to the Taffy Strip at the mountain summit. Bring the whole family to the top of the Beauchemin trail to savour some maple taffy around a huge table of snow.
