Sustainability at the Heart of Our Identity

In 2024, Mont Tremblant Resort became the first company in Québec to obtain Level 4 certification from the Eco-Responsible Program of the Conseil des industries durables. Five years after joining the program, Mont Tremblant Resort has now reached its highest level of certification. Audited by Ecocert Canada, this recognition highlights ongoing efforts and reflects Tremblant Resort’s strong commitment to sustainable development.

Over 20 years of commitment to sustainable development

It was in 2014 that the foundations of Tremblant’s eco-responsible approach began to take shape. With the creation of a Sustainable Development Committee in 2016, Mont Tremblant Resort adopted its Eco-Responsibility Charter and first Sustainable Development Action Plan (SDAP) the following year. This voluntary and forward-thinking initiative is now fully embedded in Tremblant’s business model, placing respect for the environment and the community at the core of its strategic vision.

Tremblant is committed to a sustainable development model and takes concrete action to protect its environment.

Circular Economy

The circular economy is the first focus area of the Sustainable Development Action Plan. It is built around two main objectives: responsible sourcing and residual materials management. It also involves developing a network of collaborators and engaging the various stakeholders connected to Mont Tremblant Resort.

Sustainable Mobility

Sustainable mobility refers to all alternatives to single-occupancy vehicles. This second area of focus in the PADD targets the transportation of both employees and guests, with clear goals to reduce greenhouse gas emissions related to Mont Tremblant Resort’s operations.

• Installation of electric vehicle charging stations
• New ground shuttle service between YUL Montréal Airport and Tremblant
• Acquisition of electric carts for pedestrian village maintenance
• “Cut Your Engine” awareness program

Nature-based Tourism

Protecting the environment is one of our top priorities. Preserving our natural heritage is the key objective of this third focus area in our action plan.

• Donation of a protected nature reserve along the Diable River
• Major spring and fall clean-up efforts
• 1 hire = 1 tree mountain reforestation program
• Environmental assessment carried out for Le Diable golf course

Respect for the community

Respect for the community is reflected in a range of goals aimed at supporting stakeholders in the transition toward sustainable tourism, adapting the visitor experience for people with reduced mobility, and innovating to attract and retain new talent.

Climate Change Adaptation

Go Further

Offset with Carbone Boréal

Tremblant has partnered with Carbone boréal to give you the opportunity to offset the CO₂ emissions related to your stay. A contribution can be added when booking your lodging and will help fund tree planting in Quebec’s boreal forest, as well as on unused farmland.
Carbone boréal offers a variety of tools to help you calculate your carbon footprint. A $10 contribution roughly offsets the emissions from a 1,400 km ground trip or a 1,000 km flight for two people.

Certifications & Recognitions

Tremblant actively takes part in several industry-recognized initiatives.

Eco-Responsible Program

In 2017, following the adoption of its Eco-Responsible Charter and first Sustainable Development Action Plan, Mont Tremblant Resort joined the Sustainable Industries Council’s Eco-Responsible Program. After reaching Level 1, Tremblant implemented new practices that earned it Level 2 certification in 2019 and Level 3 in 2021. In 2024, Tremblant became the first company in Québec to achieve the program’s highest level of certification.

Kéroul

Kéroul is a program dedicated to universal accessibility for people with reduced mobility in the tourism and cultural sectors. In 2024, following several upgrades in the heart of the pedestrian village, Tremblant received the Accessible rating for this area. It is worth noting that the Partially Accessible rating was granted for the mountain sector.

National Ski Areas Association

Since 2022, Mont Tremblant Resort has taken part in the Climate Challenge led by the National Ski Areas Association (NSAA), which includes over 300 ski resorts. Tremblant stood out in both 2022 and 2025 by earning the Excellence level in the Climate Advocacy and Climate Action categories. These recognitions highlight Tremblant’s innovative efforts to support clean energy and reduce greenhouse gas emissions, in a concrete response to the climate crisis.

Audubon

Audubon is a certification program for environmentally responsible golf courses. Mont Tremblant Resort joined the program in 2023 and began the process to obtain certification. In 2024, Tremblant received initial recognition for the planning phase of the program, following the adoption of a strategic action plan. That same year, an environmental assessment was conducted at Le Diable Golf Course, marking another key milestone in the certification process.

ICI on recycle +

Three of the main ski area’s buildings are Level 2 certified under Recyc-Québec’s “ICI on recycle +” program. La Fourchette du Diable and Chalet des Voyageurs earned their certification in 2013, followed by Le Grand Manitou—located at the summit—the following year. These certifications, renewed every two years, recognize Mont Tremblant Resort’s ongoing commitment to environmental protection and highlight its leadership in responsible waste management within the tourism industry.
